Workshop/APD and Desiron Launch Second Furniture Collaboration
Elevated Modern Designs for Primary & Public Spaces by Workshop/APD For Desiron
June 23, 2022, New York, NY — Award-winning architecture and design firm Workshop/APD and renowned handcrafted furniture brand Desiron announce their second collection, a series of beautifully crafted modern pieces that play a pivotal role in primary and public spaces.
“We are so proud to partner with Desiron for a second collection,” says Workshop/APD founding principal Matt Berman. “Their focus on craftsmanship is extraordinary, and their commitment to developing and executing completely unique designs in exceptional materials is perfectly aligned with Workshop/APD’s Crafted Modern ethos.”
Building upon the distinctive traits of the collaborators’ first collection, the new designs further explore asymmetry and balance, materials and planes, liminal space and composition. While architectural in their reveals and sculptural forms, the designs are inviting, functional, and luxuriously comfortable.
Shown in lighter and brighter tones of pale, warm wood and metal, the collection is highly customizable, as Desiron’s American master artisans can utilize a range of materials and finishes in crafting the designs, which span a Dining Table, Dining Chair, Coffee Table, Side Table, Spot Table, and Cocktail Table.
“We could not be more pleased with the new collection,” says Courtlandt Pennell, CEO of Desiron. “As we apply our craft, you see these forward-thinking designs come to life in the materials. The resulting hand is elevated, refined, edited, and transformative.”
This evolution of the collaborators’ first offering—a console and a bench—steps away from entry and transitional spaces to take the center of the room with a strong presence. The crafted modern collection presents open-minded exploration of the ways that simple materials and connections can inspire and continue to deepen over time.
Established in 1997, Desiron is one of the great American handcrafted furniture brands, a proud maker of contemporary, material-driven, furniture built here in the United States. Created start to finish by artisan hands, the furniture inspires leading interior designers with its forged metals, specialty woods, and fine upholstery. The lines of the designs emphasize geometric balance and machine-age streamlining. Custom finishes deliver the highest level of quality and exclusivity.
At Workshop/APD, an award-winning multidisciplinary architecture and design firm, projects are defined by a sense of place and purpose and a desire to enhance the user’s experience through exceptional design. From penthouses and seaside retreats to luxury residential developments and groundbreaking hotels and restaurants, the Workshop/APD aesthetic is timelessly modern but site-specific, unbound by project type or a singular style. Led by founding principals Andrew Kotchen and Matt Berman and principal architect Thomas Zoli, a collaborative team of 80 architects, interior designers and product designers in New York City; Minneapolis; Greenwich, CT; Nantucket; Palm Beach; and Denver leverages vast and highly varied experiences to solve complex design challenges, resulting in spaces that are exceptionally beautiful and accessible. www.workshopapd.com
